About That Mandela Day Long Weekend...

Right, so… we may have gotten a little too excited about Mandela Day.
In our recent newsletter, we incorrectly said that Friday, 18 July 2025 is a public holiday.
It isn’t. And while we’d love to give you a long weekend, we unfortunately don’t have the authority to amend South African labour law. (We checked.)
Mandela Day is celebrated internationally on 18 July, but it's not a public holiday - it’s a public invitation to do good. To give 67 minutes of your time to helping others, in honour of the 67 years Madiba spent fighting for social justice.
So while you may not have the day off, you do have a chance to make a small difference. And sometimes, that’s the better kind of day.
Thanks for your understanding - and for letting us into your inbox, even when we occasionally misread the calendar.
With warm (and humble) regards,
The CapeTourism.com Team
